Ifyou're using a MacBook Air that was made before the 2020 M1 MacBook Air (when Apple transitioned to their own Apple Silicon chip), it's actually quite easy to manually adjust the keyboard brightness. Akeyboard that supports a backlight LED will have a designated key that controls its brightness. If your keyboard has this key on any of the function keys, your keyboard supports the backlight. Ifyour F5 and F6 keys have light icons on them, then you have an Intel MacBook and you can adjust the brightness with those keys. If those keys have different icons, skip to the next section for instructions. To decrease the keyboard brightness on an Intel MacBook Air, press F5. To decrease the keyboard brightness, press F6 .
